# Runbook Management (RBM) Overview

## What is Runbook Management (RBM)

Runbook Management (RBM) provides you with the capability to improve the operational resilience of your organisation and to manage risk in real-time. 

There are four specific scenarios where the solution provides this capability:

1. Planned Change
2. Service Recovery
3. Disaster Recovery
4. Cyber Recovery

In each of these scenarios, Runbook Management provides a common methodology, framework and governance model for the creation and use of complex runbooks to successfully overcome the challenges that each of these scenarios represent.  

RBM includes the following functional components to safely deliver planned activities (changes and DR exercises) and to minimise the disruption during an unplanned service outage.

1. Planning and preparation
2. Event construction 
3. Event execution 

RBM is a native ServiceNow application, bringing powerful new capabilities that leverage the power of the platform for digital business.   It provides a common solution across the four Operational Resilience scenarios, for use by everyone involved and is designed to work alongside ServiceNow solutions, adding value by providing complimentary features.
