How to create a new Runbook in RBM
A Runbook can be created in several ways:
- By creating a Runbook on the creation of an Event
- By creating a new Runbook from within an Event
- By creating a new Runbook from a Template
- By Cloning an existing Event
Create a new Runbook:
- On creation of an Event, you have the option to create a new blank Runbook or create a Runbook from an existing Template:

- On creation of a Runbook from within an existing Event, go to the Runbooks tab in the Event and select New:

- Again, you have the option to create the Runbook from scratch or from a Template:

- The Change type will be the same of the Change type of your Event; Planned Change, Disaster Recovery, Service Recovery or Cyber Recovery.
- You can also choose whether you want to include a Pre-Imp Phase and a Post-Imp Phase. An Imp Phase will be created as mandatory. Equally, you can create and add stages and tasks into these Phases at a later point.
- You can also opt to add a Backout plan, but again, this can be added at a later stage.
- Click the Create button and then refresh the Runbook listing page to see your new Runbook.
- To go to your new Runbook, click on the Runbook id from this page.
Clone a Runbook:
- A Runbook can be cloned by cloning an entire Event.
- Go to the three dots more actions button on the right hand side of the Event details page and select Clone:

- Once you have cloned an Event and all the Runbooks within, you can delete certain Runbooks from that Event, or follow the steps above to create and add a new Runbook to the Event.
